Happy New Year! Welcome to 2010.

What will you do this year? Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Personally I gave those up decades ago. Yes I have desires I wish to fulfill, but no resolutions. One of my desires is to get better at writing. I will be honing my skills over the next few months in order to get good enough to make money doing it. I have started a class to help excel my skills and will be practicing those skills right here. Another desire is to get my old mustang looking and running good. It needs quite a bit of help, but it’s do-able.

Here is a suggestion for you - go to Russia in 2010. It will be a great year to go for it. Find 2 or 3 women (or more) you are interested in meeting and make plans! If you don’t go for it, you may never do it. Even if you don’t hit it off with any one woman, you’ll get to spend 2 weeks in Russia and see what it is all about. That’s the attitude I had when I went. I spent 3 weeks in Russia and traveled to Moscow and Yekaterinburg. But by the third week I was worn out with Russia. So my suggestion to you is to limit yourself to 2 weeks and plan on having an awesome time!

We went to the annual Russian New Year’s Eve Party. As usual, it was a big hit and I’d give it a thumbs up. This year’s party was a little different. The couple who hosted it was a French husband and a Russian wife. So there were a lot of French people there when we arrived. The party was a bit, shall we say lacking of personality when we arrived, but the more Russians that showed up the livelier the party got. Russian women tend to let loose and have a lot of fun at these parties. One woman’s husband showed up late. He had to get his nap in before coming to the party? Well, what can I say about us Americans - we like to be well rested for the night’s events…  They had Russian ‘Channel 1′ blasting on the TV and watching the Moscow New Year’s celebration. This is a staple of every Russian New Year’s party. They love to watch the party on TV and dance to the live music.

Yes - there was a lot of champagne flowing, vodka, dancing, eating and good conversation with friends. I met a few new people as well. Russians know how to celebrate the New Year! And the good news is that my headache is minimal this morning. But the Russian champagne was pretty darn good.
