It’s Easter today. The in-laws like fish, so I offered to smoke fish today. Got some nice looking trout - they’ve never had trout in Russia. I actually smoke fish every couple of months. We really enjoy smoked fish, but I don’t really care for the smoked fish that you purchase in the store. And the Russian store usually only has cold-smoked fish. Not a big fan of this type. I use a special recipe for the brine - dark rum, soy sauce, salt and water to soak the fish in. Turns out excellent. We’re also having Olivia - a type of Russian potato salad, but better. I also threw together some of my special home made salsa. Notice the snow on the ground in the smoked fish picture. We had a bit of a spring snow storm yesterday. Kinda feels like Russia without all of the melting muddy mess.
