Some people would call this a safety net, some a trap, and some merely are stingy. I personally despise these nasty things called marriage contracts.

Marriage Contract
So, let’s talk about them. Apparently, they are very common in this day and age. People use them to make sure that they are not going to have to give away anything they don’t want to in the event of a divorce.
In the world of Russian women and Russian wives, this nasty little thing called a contract is getting more and more common. Wealthy men go and find themselves a beautiful Russian wife and make them sign a marriage contract. They keep them around for a while, grow tired of them or get tired of supporting them and divorce them. The woman is usually left with nothing more than her clothes, maybe a little cash and a plane ticket back to Russia.

Wedding
So no, I am not a fan of marriage contracts, because they are not fair about 90 percent of the time. Why would you marry someone if you don’t love them? It makes no sense at all to bring someone half way across the world, marry them, keep them around for a couple of years and then send them back home.
Most Russian women are excited to find someone to love and jump at the chance to get married. Gentlemen, if you don’t love her, don’t marry her. Be sure before you drag her all the way here and mess up her life. Jobs and apartments are very difficult to come by in Russia!
So, if you insist on a marriage contract for whatever reason, please be fair. If you are not interested in giving her half of what you own, stipulate exactly what you will give her. I would suggest at least giving a years worth of income if possible. If she will go back to Russia, it will be difficult to find a new apartment and a new job. Granted, she will probably have a place to stay short term (family, friends, etc.), but you got her into this mess, it is up to you to put her back in similar conditions that you took her away from, period!
